How to Use the Cents Per Point Calculator

Not sure if you're getting a good deal when using your travel points? Use this calculator to quickly find out how much value you're getting per point—and whether it's worth it!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Enter the Cash Price
   Type in the full cost of the flight or hotel if you were paying cash. (Before using points.)

2. Enter the Taxes & Fees
   This is the amount you still had to pay when booking with points (award taxes, fuel surcharges, etc.).

3. Enter the Cost in Points
   Input the total number of points or miles you used to book the award ticket or hotel stay.

4. Click “Calculate”
   The calculator will show your cents per point (¢/pt) and let you know if that’s a poor, good, or excellent redemption.

5. Use “Reset” to Clear Fields
   Want to run another example? Click reset to start fresh.

What Do the Results Mean?

• Less than 1¢/pt = Poor value → You might be better off paying cash and saving your points.

• 1.0 – 1.49¢/pt = Good value → Solid redemption, especially for economy flights or hotel stays.

• 1.5¢/pt or more = Excellent value → You’re maximizing your points! Great use for premium cabins or luxury stays.
