Capital One Venture X Lounge Access: What Families and Cardholders Need to Know
If you've been using your Capital One Venture X or Venture X Business card to access airport lounges for yourself, your family, or your authorized users, the rules changed significantly on February 1, 2026.
And these weren't minor tweaks.
They were the most wide-ranging changes to the Venture X lounge policy since the card launched in 2021, and they affect authorized users, guest access at Capital One Lounges, and Priority Pass guest access all at once.
I travel as a family of four, and these changes directly affected how I think about the Venture X in my own wallet.
Here's exactly what changed, who it affects, and what to do next.

Lounge Access Changes on February 1, 2026
Authorized Users No Longer Have Free Lounge Access
One of the Venture X's most distinctive original features was that authorized users received complimentary lounge access automatically, without paying anything beyond the card's base annual fee. That benefit is now gone.
As of February 1 2026, authorized users on the personal Venture X no longer receive automatic lounge access.
If you want an authorized user to have lounge privileges, you now pay an annual $125 lounge access fee per user, up to four authorized users total. That fee grants them access to Capital One Lounges, Capital One Landings, and Priority Pass lounges.
You can still add authorized users to your account without paying the $125 fee. They just won't have lounge access.
For families and small business owners who added authorized users primarily for lounge access, this is a significant devaluation.

No More Free Guest Access at Priority Pass Lounges
Before February 1 2026, Venture X personal cardholders could bring guests into Priority Pass lounges for free. That benefit has been eliminated entirely on the personal card.
Every guest you bring into a Priority Pass lounge now costs $35 per visit. This applies to both the primary cardholder and any authorized users who have paid for lounge access.
No More Free Guest Access at Capital One Lounges
Free guest access at Capital One Lounges and Landings has also been eliminated for most cardholders. Guests at Capital One Lounges now cost $45 per adult and $25 per guest age 17 and under. Children under 2 remain free.
The one exception: If you spend $75,000 or more per calendar year on your Venture X account, you unlock complimentary guest access. More on that below.
Personal vs. Business: One Important Difference
The personal Venture X and the Venture X Business card handle Priority Pass guest access differently after the February changes.
On the personal Venture X, Priority Pass guest access is completely eliminated unless you pay the $35 per guest fee.
On the Venture X Business, primary cardholders can still bring up to 2 guests into Priority Pass lounges at no charge.
If guest access at Priority Pass lounges matters to you, the business version of the card retains more value in that specific area.

The $75,000 Spend Threshold
Want to keep bringing guests into Capital One Lounges and Landings for free?
You need to spend $75,000 or more per calendar year on your Venture X account.
If you hit that threshold you get 2 free guests per visit at Capital One Lounges and 1 free guest per visit at Capital One Landings. Guest access applies to the calendar year in which you meet the threshold and the full following calendar year.
For most families and cardholders, $75,000 in annual spend on a single card is not realistic.
And even if you were willing to route that much spending toward one card, you could likely get more value by spreading it across cards with better earning rates or sign-up bonuses.
If you were going to spend $75,000 on a card just to unlock guest lounge access, the Amex Platinum would likely give you more value given the size and quality of the Centurion Lounge network compared to Capital One's still-growing footprint.

Does the Venture X Still Make Sense?
For solo travelers, the Venture X still makes a strong case for itself.
Your own lounge access as the primary cardholder is completely unchanged.
You continue to get unlimited complimentary access to Capital One Lounges, Capital One Landings, and Priority Pass lounges.
Combined with the $300 annual travel credit, 10,000 anniversary miles, and 2x miles on all purchases, the card still delivers solid value at its $395 annual fee for someone traveling alone.
For couples and families, the math is harder now. Adding your spouse as an authorized user for lounge access now costs $125 per year on top of the $395 annual fee, putting you at $520 before you count any guest fees for your kids.
And your kids are still not covered under that $125 fee. Every time they enter a lounge you're paying $25 per child at Capital One Lounges or $35 per child at Priority Pass lounges.
The card that used to be the easy, affordable family lounge solution is now a solo traveler card.
That's the honest assessment.

What You Should Do Now
If you travel solo most of the time: The impact on you is minimal. Your primary cardholder access is unchanged and the card's other benefits remain strong.
If you travel with a spouse or partner: Decide whether the $125 authorized user lounge fee makes sense for your situation. If you're both frequent lounge users, $125 might be worth it. If you only use lounges a few times a year, paying per visit could be cheaper. Or alternatively, maybe both of you will pick up your own Venture X to cover your lounge access.
If you travel with kids: The Venture X is no longer a practical family lounge card unless you're hitting the $75,000 spend threshold. You'll want to look at alternatives that cover your whole family without per-visit guest fees.
If you added employee authorized users for lounge access: Each one now costs $125 per year for lounge privileges. Evaluate whether the business value justifies that cost per employee.
Better Alternatives for Family Lounge Access
If lounge access for your whole family was the primary reason you held the Venture X, it's worth exploring what else is out there.

Final Thoughts
The February 2026 Venture X lounge changes mark a clear shift in Capital One's strategy. The card that launched with the most generous lounge access policy in the premium card space has now aligned itself more closely with the restrictions we've seen from Amex and Chase over the past few years. However, you can argue that the lounge changes are even more harsh than Capital One’s competitors.
If you're a solo traveler, the Venture X remains a strong card.
If you're a family, it's time to reassess.
The good news is there are solid alternatives at similar or lower price points that still get your whole family into lounges without a guest fee every time you travel.
